As the global population continue to grow, the Elderly population continues to rise. According to Badan Pusat Statistik Indonesia, it is estimated that in 2020 there will be 27.08 million and predicted in 2035 there will be 48.19 million Elderly in Indonesia. In general, an indicator of being called an elderly person is when he/she cannot maintain the equilibrium health and physiological stress conditions. it also includes a decrease in the ability to live and individual sensitivity and it usually happens in the age of 63 and so on. Therefore, elderly needs more nursing action and facilities to accommodate their disabilities, so that they can enjoy their golden age and become a useful and happy elderly. In that case, it is the job of a designer to design a place that is suitable for the elderly to provide the needs and supporting facilities to help them do their daily activities and enjoy the rest of their life joyfully. Participatory design is a human centered design method that involves all community [users] to participate in the design process. Participatory design is driven by social interaction when the community and designers learn together to create, develop, express, and evaluate their ideas and visions. In this context the designer must have ’empathy’ to plunge into the user’s life and feel the problems experienced by the user. Thus the designer can understand correctly problems that occur and create innovative solutions that are appropriate to the user’s needs and desires.
