Port Connection

The traditional fish market in Teluk Betung is always bustling with buyers and fishermen. However, behind the scenes, there are many activities that may not be visible to visitors. These activities involve fishermen and sellers, who not only make a living here but also consider it as a source of their livelihood and a place to rest. Their special relationship with the sea and the market should be appreciated, especially considering environmental changes. Cleanliness and organization in this market will not only improve their quality of life but also provide a better experience for visitors and the surrounding community.

Concept

The purpose of this design is to create connectivity and experiences within the fish market space. We strive to establish a concept that prioritizes cleanliness and the quality of the market area while harnessing the potential of the beautiful sea views. Additionally, we aim to introduce the region’s cultural identity to create an unforgettable spatial experience for visitors, promoting the unique characteristics of the area. The design also focuses on creating interaction spaces that will allow residents and children to interact and make the market a more dynamic place, avoiding a monotonous impression. Thus, this market becomes not only a trading center but also a meaningful social hub for the community.
