Project Description
Background Issue
Along with the phenomenon of the fast pace of technology and life, a small village has become a concern because it is very unequal. The community lives solely dependent on nature and works as tea farmers whose gardens are jointly initiated using village land. Only selling raw tea products at low prices and minimal quality at a time when the demand for tea is surging on the global market as a contributor to antioxidants in the context of the escalation of global health after pandemic Covid-19 and the recent climate surge. This is because there are not enough facilities and knowledge in cultivating and processing good tea. If only they had it, sales profits would double.
Starting from the need for community welfare and global health, the idea arose to design Mayungan Teh with a mutual aim, namely creating facilities that help improve community welfare, especially in the cultivation and processing of tea as well as contributing to improving global health on a local scale to a more massive level by producing Good quality antioxidants from superior tea leaves.
Design Improve
Improving the tea processing process which starts from raw tea leaves which are then sorted to maintain the quality of the tea produced through withering and roasting processes to obtain maximum oxidation results and good quality tea.
The initial scheme involves a simple tea leaf withering/rolling machine as a counter to traditional tea processing methods which will continue to be im-proved. With this they can reap 2 times the profit from previous sales which only focused on raw tea leaves.
Creating facilities that are not only contextual to local production houses, but also mutualist towards their users. Building living architecture is building that can give life. That’s Mayungan Tea. As a new community center that deinon-strates the optimization of organic use of land and architecture as a medium for food crops as well as utilizing elements in the architectural field as small-scale livestock.
This project is also designed as a sustainable integration of the convergence of waste and scavengers issues demonstrated in the previous year which focuses on public health and the global environment. Resolving the problem of waste accumulation is the first step in improving health. With this, the designer seeks a continuation of that with a different vision and narrative starting from a local scale. This project procession involves ideas from designers and village communities which are presented through sustainable contextual buildings represented in vernacular architectural building concepts, thereby enabling the elimination of inequality and gaps between designers and village communities. The architectural idea also contemplates the universe, humans, the socio-economic life of the community and becomes a new shelter for the people in Antapan Mayungan.
