Project Description
Background
Solo has a beautiful and magnificent palace known as Puro Mangkunegaran. Puro Mangkunegaran is one of the cultural heritage building as a reminder of the rich tradition and history of the archipelago and residence of adipati Mangkunegara and his family.
Rekso Pustoko is a semi-private heritage library that is part of Puro Mangkunegaran and the oldest in Indonesia. It has a large collection of old books, paintings, photographs, and ancient manuscripts containing history that need to be preserved. As well as, difficulty of connecting culture with societies, struggle to maintain inter-generational transfer of knowledge, and lack of recognition.
Due to the age of the collection, some pages are missing, unreadable, crumbly, and ripped. And condition today is quite lacking of Javanese European architecture characteristic of Puro Mangkunegaran.
